January 2017: Aga Khan Palace is a magnificent building. Its exteriors are very impressive and gives a majestic feel. It was build in 1892 by Aga Khan III. This palace has significance in Indian Freedom Struggle as Mahatma Gandhi, his wife Kasturba Gandhi and his secretary Mahadev desai were kept here during freedom struggle. Kasturba and Mahadev Desai died here. Memorials of Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi are located in the palace premises. Part of the main building is a kind of museum.Belonging of Mahatma Gandhi are kept here. Corridors around the main building are adding value to the grandeur of the Palace. There is a huge open area and sprawling lawns are there with different kind of trees, plant and grass. These lush green lawns are enriching the tranquality around the building. There is a great history which is associated with the building related to Indian Freedom Struggle and Aga Khan III.This is a must visit place in Pune. Parking is available inside. Entry ticket can be purchased at the entrance of the Palace. I highly recommend this place to visit.
